Toronto-based singer-songwriter LOONY kicks off the new year with ‘raw’, a tender love song that continues the singer’s beautifully blended sound of R&B and soul.
The song is set to feature on her upcoming EP, ‘soft thing’, that will be released in June. It follows the breezy ‘be cool’, and the ‘JOYRiDE’ EP which earned the singer comparisons to R&B legends like Erykah Badu and Sade.
The comparisons truly come to light on ‘raw’, as LOONY’s crystal clear vocals shine over a delicate instrumental embellished with elements of neo-soul, gospel and hip-hop. “See you for who you are, I just want you raw / Need you for who you are, I just want you raw,” the singer sings about seeing someone in their most unvarnished state and loving them for it.
“It’s about being in the moment with someone, and being completely clear, completely present,” LOONY explains. “It’s seeing someone in their raw, naked glory, seeing yourself in their reflection, and being absolutely in love with every inch of it.”
With a sound that’s a polished mix of trendy and throwback, we can’t wait to see what 2021 brings for LOONY.

‘soft thing’ will be released June 17th.
