Dua Lipa and Angèle turn up the heat with ‘Fever’

Dua Lipa is 2020’s gift that keeps on giving.

Not only did the singer release her sophomore ‘Future Nostalgia‘, arguably one of the year’s best records, she also proceeded to furnish the world with quarantine performances, collaborations, an entire remix album, an upcoming livestream concert, and a rumoured B-side to ‘Future Nostalgia’ is said to be in the works.

Today’s newly released ‘Fever’ joins the laundry list of blessings showered by the newly minted goddess of pop herself.

The song features Belgian singer Angèle, who has been one of the biggest breakout acts of French and Belgian pop in recent years.

Like a cousin to ‘Hallucinate’ on ‘Future Nostalgia’, Lipa and Angele trade verses about being trapped in an intoxicating love affair: “I’ve got a fever, so can you check? / Hand on my forehead, kiss my neck / And when you touch me, baby, I turn red / I’ve got a fever, so can you check?”. The production is more minimal than what we’ve come to expect from the ‘Future Nostalgia’ era, drawing reference instead from modern French pop.

It’s the latest of Lipa’s collaborations with international artists, a list which includes such acts as Blackpink, Hwasa, Bad Bunny, J Balvin and Andre Bocelli.

Together with the recent remix of ‘Levitating’, featuring DaBaby, ‘Fever’ will be included on the bonus digital edition of ‘Future Nostalgia’.
